ABOUT

AN EXPLORATION IN DESIGN.

Ebotan Interiors was founded by Parisian-trained Architect and Interior designer, Josiane A. Raphael. Josiane’s extensive 27+ years of design experience, combined with passion to take her clients on a journey of the unexpected, has brought her multiple opportunities to design and execute dream-come-true projects, including residential palaces throughout Africa and France, African embassies in Washington, D.C. and multiple million dollar residential projects across the US.

“Authenticity and passion is my signature. My designs articulate classicism, convey strength through simplicity, and always express a warm chic and tactile elegance. I love my work and you will too”.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

“EBOTAN means Blessings in Bulu, my native language. Divine inspiration has followed and blessed all of my days. My creativity, as expressed in everything I design, is a gift from God, who is my generous and ever faithful guiding light.”

I was born in Cameroon, Africa, a continent some say, that is older than time. The culture that has developed through the centuries has deep roots, traditions and its authenticity. My earliest memories were of the bright, rich colors of nature, the soil, the sky, the ocean and especially in the clothing my grandmothers, my mother and my aunts wore. There was always a sense of generosity and sheer joy. As though life itself had a warm, spicy flavor.

Many years later, when I went to study architecture in Paris, France, I found my passion with not only architecture but also interior design. I was fascinated early on to know how these two disciplines applied to transforming a space for better living. Blending this with my sophisticated French education and life style in Paris and my fascination with the art of making dreams into homes, has provided a structure and synthesis for my work.

Great home design is made with care and intention. I specialize in creating homes of unexpected beauty, comfort and efficiency, in all the ways that are most meaningful to you. This is what I achieve here at EBOTAN.
